Neon Dodge is an endless dodge. You are a cyan diamond in a closed arena. Orange hazards enter from the edges, and the run ends when one touches you. Last longer, and both the pace and your score go up.
How a run works
- Press Start. The arena takes keyboard focus, and the survival clock starts at 00:00.0.
- Move with WASD or the arrow keys while the arena is focused. On a phone, use the arrow buttons under the arena. Diagonal movement is allowed, and it is not faster than moving in a straight line.
- You cannot leave the arena. Hazards are circles that spawn outside an edge, travel in a straight line, and disappear after they pass the far side.
- Before a hazard can hit you, its edge shows a warning for about 600 ms. During that warning the hazard is not in the arena yet, so it cannot collide with you.
- The first warning waits 1.5 seconds. Later warnings begin about every 1.8 seconds. Every 10 seconds you survive, that gap shrinks by 150 ms, down to a floor of 700 ms.
- New hazards also get faster as time passes. Their speed starts between 140 and 180 pixels per second. Every 10 seconds, the top of that range rises by 20, up to 300. Hazards already on screen keep the speed they spawned with.
- At most 8 hazards are moving at once. A warning that has not entered yet does not count toward those 8.
- Touching a hazard ends the run immediately. The clock and the score stop, and Play Again starts a fresh arena at 00:00.0.
How scoring works
Your score is survival time, not a combo or a hit count:
score = floor(survival milliseconds / 100)
One second is 10 points. A run that lasts 31.2 seconds scores 312, and the result shows the time as 00:31.2. Your personal best is the highest score.
Only time spent actually playing counts. Pause, a hidden tab, and time after a hit do not add points.
When the run pauses
- Pause freezes your movement, the hazards, the warnings, and the clock. Resume continues from that moment and focuses the arena again.
- Hiding the tab, or clicking outside the window, also pauses the run and clears held keys. Coming back does not resume by itself. You still need Resume.
- Arrow keys and WASD move you only while the arena is focused. If the diamond stops responding on desktop, click the arena or press Resume.
Practical tips
- Read the edge mark before the circle appears. It tells you which side the next hazard is using, so you can leave that side before the 600 ms warning ends.
- Avoid camping on the border. Hazards enter from outside the edges and travel inward, so the rim is where new circles first become dangerous.
- Keep a gap beside you. Once warnings are close to 700 ms apart, sliding into the largest open space is more reliable than sitting in the center until a circle arrives.
- If you need a moment, press Pause yourself. Looking away can pause the game for you, but the run will not continue until you press Resume.
- A miss is final. There is no shield and no second life, so an early sidestep is worth more than a late correction.
